Spotify App Configuration
To import playlists you need Spotify API credentials. Visit the Spotify Developer site to create an app and get your Client ID and Client Secret.
Creating Your App
- Go to the Spotify Developer Dashboard
- Log in with your Spotify account
- Click “Create App”
- Fill in the required fields:
- App Name: Choose any name (e.g., “Spotify to Plex”)
- App Description: A brief description (can be anything)
- Redirect URI:
https://jjdenhertog.github.io/spotify-to-plex/callback.html
For alternative redirect URI options (e.g., direct localhost), see Authentication.
Configuration Settings
Once you have created your Spotify app, note these values:
| Setting | Description |
|---|---|
| Client ID | Your app’s unique identifier |
| Client Secret | Your app’s secret key (keep this private!) |
| Redirect URI | https://jjdenhertog.github.io/spotify-to-plex/callback.html |
Add these to your Docker environment:
-e SPOTIFY_API_CLIENT_ID=your_client_id_here
-e SPOTIFY_API_CLIENT_SECRET=your_client_secret_here
-e SPOTIFY_API_REDIRECT_URI=https://jjdenhertog.github.io/spotify-to-plex/callback.html
The redirect URI in your Spotify app must exactly match the SPOTIFY_API_REDIRECT_URI environment variable.
Next Steps
After creating your Spotify app, you can start using Spotify to Plex. For details about how the redirect flow works or alternative configurations, see Authentication.
